Cowon would do well to tone down the hype. These come in sophisticated packaging, complete with rhetoric which makes you think that you are in for a transformational experience. No. They are very very good sound- wise, but in some other areas... it is a bit of a miss. Noise cancelling, Meh. Not many do it well. Theirs is better than average but not to the point where it enhances the music much... unlike say, Sony.Time was I compared everything to my xm1000s, but that is not fair. You could buy 3 pair of Galas for the cost of 1 set of xm100s, so realistically the expectations are not the same. On the other hand, you can now get very good ear buds, yes, very good, for $35. Are the $300 phones/ buds worth it? I have purchased 3 sets... for myself, my husband and son, and when my daughter wants a set I will have to sell the dog.But, if you do not have $300 to spare, these are very good.At this price point I do expect good sound, and know several places to find it, and... Cowon competes with any of them. They do not have aptx or ldac, which is a bit of a disappointment, but it is full range, clear, detailed, balanced sound. It is very nice. IMO as good as or better than Jabra 65 or 75t, 3 e, or Shure, or Sennheiser.. even Sony (but not the xm1000s ;)They have 10mm drivers, and are still comfortable to wear (and that from someone who can not wear the Devialet Geminis but very much wants to. I stopped wearing ear buds for a long time because so many were uncomfortable, even painful (quiet comfort, for example). So the Cowon magic was making a 10mm driver comfortable to wear.They are obviously twc. I only got sound on the right side and had to do a reset out of the box. So much for Airoha. They were easy to reset and repair, but I did have to do it.I get the feeling that a lot of people were expecting something stupendous from the lead up, and were subsequently disappointed, but as someone who has tried 40-50 sets of ear buds, these are very good, as long as you are not expecting audiophile sound and then some ;)CleanBalancedFull rangewarmdetailed soundNoise cancelling, doesn't do a lotstable connection but tws is not instantaneous.
