After tossing in a pair of batteries it turned on fine and the electronics functioned. Worked with a cheap radio and PTT system, too. Don't know about it's '270 hours' operating life claim, though, but I'll update later if they die early.This is good for cosplay for the price, and that's what I got it for, but using it for airsoft stuff seems like it would be more of a pain. The auto-cutoff kicks in at way too low a volume, even just the regular sounds of adjusting your mic is enough to ping it and probably even someone speaking at an outdoor volume would be enough to trigger it.The pickups for the mic are decent, they do have a solid amplification effect but the mics aren't very well secured in the housing and the boom mic drags against the front of one of them and I can see it very easily tearing it out entirely if you aren't careful about it, that definitely seems like a design oversight.The headset itself is alright. It works and functions well for what you’re paying. Of course, don’t expect quality comparable to more expensive pairs. But if you’re in the market for cosplay, or sports like airsoft and paintball, these are a good and affordable pair of headphones.The gel inserts and ear cover, for me at least, were totally too small and a little bit uncomfortable. It doesn’t bother too much if you’re wearing something like a balaclava over it, but if that’s not your fancy, one could just go ahead and buy new inserts.The microphone- for the most part- is pretty sturdy, and works well. But sometimes, the base of the mic attached to the headset can slide downwards and become loose. I learned that the hard way after it slapped me across the face.Last but not least, the headset I received was olive drab, not black. I’m not mad, though. It still looks good, if not better than black, which I was totally not expecting. But for those who are looking for a black headset, chances are you’re not gonna get what you want. Overall OK headset.The headset is great but the FEDEX carrier this seller uses is awful. worst service ever
